Everything changed when I had children in the studio. My two kids would ride toys in circles around me as I painted, so I taped palette table corners to keep heads un-bonked. Constantly, I was interrupted with naps, cooking, and cleaning. There were many diaper changes, creams, and rocking in the rocking chair. Of course, they made their own art works right next to mine. They became the subject of my work because for four years they were the biggest focus in my life as I was with them 24/7. Many paintings are painted on wood, because I had limited money for supplies and found that a cabinet shop in Austin had amazing oak chunks in their dumpster. I utilized cigar boxes too. Cute little paintings of cute little babies? Sometimes the babies became monsters, and some of the paintings are very large.
